Compression

At various fora we see a regular discussion about the compression of music and what that means for the listening experience. A lot of, especially pop-, music is compressed on CD and its also used in radio transmissions. A different kind of compression is used on new formats such as MP3. A nice example of this phenomen is shown here.

New Amplifiers

The new D-702 stereo power amplifier delivers 2 x 70 Watts into 8 Ohm and a maximum of 150 Watt into 2 Ohm.

Also we offer a "special edition" of this amplifier, the D-702-SE. This amplifier has a separate power transformer for each channel. TYhe result being a maximum output power of 2 x 350 Watt into 1 Ohm. This SE model also has a different "audiophile" input configurationand the input part has its power supplied with double stabilisation., resulting in lower noise and distortion figures.

The successor for our world famous A-18 amplifier is the A-19 class-A power amp. Basically the circuit is the same but we improved the current sources and the power supply for the input transistors. Almost all components, with the exception of the power capacitors and the power transistors are pre-mounted using SMD components.

A new control amplifier is this P-5 model. This amplifier excels by offering extremely low noise and distortion figures. The first customer ordering this amplifier will get a discount of 20% from the list price.

A different development is the new D-502, an integrated amplifier offering 2 x 50 Watt into 8 Ohm.

This autumn we expect a new set for surround amplification. This set will have a P-8 control amplifier and the D-508 power amplifier. The control amplifier is entirely discrete without any digital circuits. The power amplifier delivers 8 x 50 Watts into 8 Ohm with a peak power output of around 90 Watts per channel.

The Great Debate

Debate between John Atkinson and Arny Kruger about objective and subjective evaluation of audio equipment.

Xerocomm-Audio opens its new showroom on september 1st. Some of our products will be demonstrated and Hawk products can be directly ordered from there.

We now have a new representative in the U.S.. This company is starting an entirely new business focussed on the enthousiastic d.i.y. audio amateur. They offer our loudspeaker and amplifier kits. Also they will deliver tube amps, cables and audio accessories.

We now deliver a special protractor for the alignment of phono cartridges. Also look here.

New loudspeaker

Anticipating on a new audio system we now introduce a new full range loudspeaker, the "FR-1". This loudspeaker, without a filter (!) brings you "closer to the music". The emotional experience with music is enhanced and more pronounced then with a multiway loudspeaker system.

In addation we will offer a passive subwoofer and a low budget amplifier with an extra, actively filtered, bass channel.

Downloads of tube and amplifier circuits

At this site it's possible to download lots of data and circuits of tube amplifiers. A must for starting audio amateurs and professional technicians!

Do tubes sound louder?

An article and measurements by Peter van Willenswaard in Stereophile

A continuation can be found at the site of Audio Note: "Measurements of Amplifier Peak Output Voltages Under Dynamic Conditions and Into a Real Loudspeaker Load"

Alignment of the phono cartridge

Aligning the cartridge at optimum clearly has advantages. A good article can be found the the Vacuum State site. We also have an own version of that story. We'll be delivering a "Hawk" protractor soon. You can also make your own protractor using this drawing (Baerwald).

Components

In our components list we now have a new series of MKP capacitors. Also some new transistors and integrated circuits are added.
